Recensione Genuine Prog Metal Zone 9/10

Genuine
Italy’s Echotime is probably one of the most eclectic and unpredictable progressive metal bands out there right now. The band managed to showcase a constant growth within their music leading to their quite impressive 2013 full-length album debut Genuine. The band set out to redefine the progressive metal experience in a unique and very personal way utilizing a very cinematic approach, with intros and song interludes that remind me of the soundtracks for the best action and adventure flicks.  The introductory track In The Cage, for example, almost makes me think of some of the best Tim Burton films including The Nightmare Before Christmas and early Batman movies. The playfulness and complexity of these cinematic tracks complements the hard-hitting rock/metal sound of the band. The second track on the album, The Choice sounds uplifting, epic and powerful, with a great electric guitar sound, pounding drums and tight bass locking in with bright and embracing synth melodies, strings and vocals. It’s clear from the start – this is not your usual Dream Theatre wannabe! Echotime is as unique as their unpredictable blend of sonic influences, ranging from metal, to electronica and even pop, with a specific theatrical flare to the whole mix.
